Improving 200+ Grassroots NGOs’ Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Platform
Project Overview
In partnership with Dhwani Foundation, 10x Impact Labs embarked on a project to enhance the Goonjan MIS platform, a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) system used by over 200 grassroots NGOs across India. The NGOs supported through this platform work across domains such as Disability, Education, Livelihoods, and Health.
Engagement Structure
A team of 4 consultants conducted a 3-month engagement to assess the platform, gather user feedback, identify gaps, assess impact & recommend improvements. The project aimed to optimise the system for better user experience and performance while ensuring that NGOs received the necessary training and support for effective utilisation.

System & Impact Assessment:
Conduct a thorough evaluation of the current Goonjan MIS platform, analysing its technical performance, user experience, and functionality.

Engage with grassroots NGOs through surveys, interviews, and field visits to understand their challenges, needs, and feedback on the platform.

Identify key areas for improvement, including user interface design, system features, and platform performance, and provide recommendations.
Methodology
The engagement involved a multi-layered approach to capture insights from both users and technical experts:
In-depth Interviews:
Conducted interviews with 15 NGO representatives to gather qualitative insights on their experience with the Goonjan platform, focusing on pain points, needs, and suggested improvements.
Quantitative Survey:
A survey of 96 NGO staff was conducted to gather data on platform usage, satisfaction levels, and performance bottlenecks.
Field Visits:
Observed on-ground usage of the platform in 5+ locations to understand how it was being implemented in real-life scenarios and where technical limitations were affecting NGO operations.
Gap Analysis:
Analysed feedback from all stakeholders to identify critical gaps in the platform’s current functionality, design, and performance.

Impact
The enhancements proposed for the Goonjan MIS platform are expected to significantly improve its usability and performance, allowing the 200+ grassroots NGOs using the system to better monitor and evaluate their programs in Disability, Education, Livelihoods, and Health. The streamlined platform will empower these organisations to track their impact more efficiently and make improved data-driven decisions for program enhancements.
